What if the laughter of our children is really a significant barometer for measuring the true health and well-being of our planet . . . and no one is listening?"
THE WINDS OF ARAWAN
Story Treatment by Alan L. Foote
Note to the reader –
Bottom-Line, “The Winds of Arawan” is about the ultimate significance of children in the scheme and tapestry of our lives and what happens when children are taken out of the equation of life as our world is doing, metaphorically even now, in terms of drug addiction – abuse – child slavery around the world – abortion, etc. This grand story is meant to serve as a constant reminder to us all that as the laughter of our children dies, so dies the planet. It is a sweeping story that is full of metaphors and fantasy; characters that could only be found in the world of science fiction; strange lands, friendships, family, and heroism.
This piece can by compared to “The Chronicles of Narnia” - “Road to Terabithia” - Eragon” - etc.
Much is being said in the medical and psychological community about the importance of laughter in our lives – for maintenance of good health and healing. Deepak Chopra, M. D., has written a book entitled, “Ageless Mind, Timeless Body”. In this book, Dr. Chopra points out that there is really a lack of laughter in our families and in our society.
THE WINDS OF ARAWAN, was written with the importance of laughter in mind – particularly the laughter of children. THE WINDS OF ARAWAN, although just a story treatment, offers significant lessons about life, love and the importance of family. It is particularly significant in the wake of all the information coming forward concerning the millions of children who are in bondage in our world today – whether mining diamonds in Africa, making blankets in India, addicted to drugs, or imprisoned by fear and the inexplicable anxiety because of the ungodly tragedy of September 11, 2001, it is all the same. This story is dedicated to THE CHILDREN and the importance of their laughter in all of our lives. For the laughter of the world's children makes for a great barometer in measuring the health and well-being of our planet.
